The Baths: British Virgin Islands

Easily in my top 5 favorite places I've ever visited are The Baths on Virgin Gorda. When I tell you this place is incredible... 

This. Place. Is. Incredible.

Seriously, it's like a dream. Clear turquoise water and white sandy beaches surround massive volcanic rock formations that have been created over millions of years.

The walk through The Baths is somewhat of an obstacle course complete with ladders, bridges, staircases and areas where you have to use a rope to pull yourself up the rocks. At each turn there are newer, more beautiful things to see. It's almost a spiritual experience standing in the middle of all these massive boulders that are much older than I can even comprehend (some are dated back as far as 50 million years!). 

One of the most frequently photographed areas of The Baths is known as "the cathedral." In this area, several rocks lean together and create a sort of ceiling with small holes that are just large enough for light to leak through and shine into a grotto flooded by crystal clear turquoise water. The atmosphere in the cathedral is serene and breathtaking.

Once you've made your way through The Baths, you end up at Devil's Bay. The water was rough and there was a storm coming in when we got to this point, so we couldn't get into the water, but we still walked around and took lots of pictures climbing the rocks! I might have climbed over a railing to get over into this area, but whatever, we were having a good day pretending to be explorers and such.

Tortola: British Virgin Islands, Part One - 2017

One thing you should know about me - I love the beach. Something about the salty air is medicinal and I believe it can cure just about anything! The Virgin Islands are (so far) my favorite place to vacation! I've never taken a vacation like a Virgin Islands Vacation before. What's great is that you don't have to stay in one spot very long because a completely new destination is only a ferry ride away!

We started off this year on Tortola, staying at the Indigo House in Cane Garden Bay. Indigo house is managed by Myett's Garden Inn and sits directly on the beach.

The best sunset views in the Caribbean were just a few steps away, right outside our windows! Another thing you should know about me - I have an obsession with sunsets. Cane Garden bay did not disappoint!

We spent most of our days on Tortola at Myett's on the beach (where we could use the wifi to make phone calls home). I think this was taken right before Lacey caught a stray cat... We made friends with one of the servers, Natasha, who recommended things to do and see while we were on Tortola. I wish I had taken a picture of her with my camera! She was awesome... If you ever visit Myett's look for her!
